Track Choice & Justification

1. Bonnie Tyler - Holding out for a hero

This song shows connotations of traditional masculinity which we could then adhere it or go against it. This is a pop song which is what we wanted and it is very upbeat that a lot of people know making it an ideal song we could use. The original music video isn't very good allowing us to improve it. The song is used on footloose allowing us to create intertextual references.

 2. Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun

The next choice is again an 80's pop song, this song is very girly meaning we can have the lead singer as a female and follow the forms and conventions we intended too. It is a very fun song which we could also have fun producing our own music video with it. 

 3. Wilson Phillips - Hold On 

The reason we may use this song is it is a well know song which is also featured on bridesmaids meaning we  could use intertextual references. As I have watched the original music video there was a lot of locations which means when we make our music video there would be various of locations that we could use for example, local beaches. 

 The song that we have decided to use is Bonnie Tyler - Holding out for a hero. The reasons behind this are the fact that it refers to 'hero's' we could use traditional hero's such as firemen, policemen and boxers to back up the original thought of traditional masculinity. Another reason for our reason is because it is a very upbeat happy song that a lot of people know and also in the pop genre.

Andrew Goodwin Analysis

Reflection  By researching into Andrew Goodwin's theory I have developed ideas for my music video. The ideas I have developed are that the lyrics need to match the visuals in order for the video to make sense to the audience. If the lyrics don't match the visuals it will create confusion to the audience and make it a poor music video. Another thing is the genre characteristics so if I was making a pop genre music video it needs to follow the forms and conventions of a pop music video such as bright and vibrant colours usually showing off their lifestyle. There will be more than one costume for each different locations which are used.

Genre Research

By researching into different genres it allowed me to understand the concept of genre and the forms and conventions of each one. Each genre has different forms and conventions which makes it recgnoisible to be that certain genre. From this research I intend to use the genre pop for my music video as this is the genre I listen too and I feel like this is the genre id be able to represent and make the video look profesional and realistic.
