Genre Theory

Although some theorists believe that genre consits of forms and conventions such as Andrew Goodwin. Others believe it is a blend of things and that each genre has elements of other genre, theorists such as Martin Loop and Jim Collins believe this. Andrew Goodwins theory suggests that the lyrics should make constant references to the visuals on screen as this allows the music video to make sense to the audience. The next theorist is Martin Loop which belives that genres are hybrids and not one genre is pure it is in fact a blend of each genre. I can reflect on both of these theorists as it has taught me that to create a music video there are lot of aspects which I need to consider for example, even though a music video is a specific genre it will still have forms and conventions of other music video as not one genre is pure they are all blends.
